Frequently Asked Questions

Where do the tours depart?

e-Bike tours depart from Trek Bicycle Midtown Detroit at 3613 Woodward Ave, located on the northwest corner of Woodward at Mack/MLK Blvd. There is parking on the side street behind the shop on Davenport, and at various locations nearby.

Walking tours depart from Germack Coffee in Eastern Market, 2517 Russell St., at the corner of Russell and Adelaide.

Do I need to arrive early for the tour I booked?

We recommend arriving early for e-bike tours so that you are on your e-bike and ready to go at the time you booked for your tour. The larger the tour, the earlier you should arrive. Tours of 25 should arrive at least a half hour earlier than the time booked.

Can I request certain sites that I want to see on the tour?

We love to do custom tours! If you have special spots you want to see in the city, we will do the best to accommodate in the time reserved for the tour. If you have a theme in mind, we are happy to work with you in advance to put something special together for your group.

What is your cancellation policy?

Every rider can move their tour date or cancel their tour up to two weeks in advance. Moving your tour date more than two weeks out is free and can be done by emailing RIDETROIT1701@gmail.com or calling 313.737.7881.  Sorry, there are no refunds for rescheduling or cancelling less than 14 days out.

We ride rain or shine! We only cancel our tours for safety reasons such as severe weather conditions. All cancellations are at the discretion of RiDetroit. If we have to cancel your tour, you can reschedule or receive a full refund.

Can I rent a bike without going on a guided tour?

Yes, e-bikes are available for rental to do a self-guided tour. We recommend reserving these in advance.

Can I bring my own helmet?

Yes. RiDetroit provides helmets or you can bring your own helmet. Every rider must wear a helmet.

What should I expect on the day of the tour?

Arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the time booked for your tour (at least 30 minutes early for larger groups). Be sure to bring water and/or sunblock if you need it! We do not stock these items at the bike shop. Whole Foods is across the street from the bike shop if you need to make a last minute purchase.

When you arrive, you will be asked to sign a waiver, fitted on a bike that is your size and provided with a helmet. When your full group has arrived, you will get a quick tutorial on e-bikes and the hand signals and verbal signals we use to communicate while we’re on the road. After that, you are ready to roll.

Can I bring my own bike?

To ensure that everyone enjoys the ride, participants must ride e-bikes. There is NOT a discount if you provide your own e-bike. Outside bikes create logistical, maintenance and ride management issues. We encourage you to let us provide the e-bikes so you can relax and enjoy the ride.

Can I bring my baby or small child on the tour with me?

Child seats are not available for tours. All riders must be large enough to ride an extra small adult e-bike.

I’ve never ridden an e-bike. Do I need any special instructions?

e-bikes are just like regular bikes with a little boost. We give you a quick tutorial and let you try out the e-bikes before we hit the streets on the tour.

Where is a good spot to hang out before/after the tour?

There are several amazing restaurants within walking distance of RiDetroit. We are happy to provide recommendations for your group.

What Covid precautions are you taking?

We follow Michigan requirements and CDC guidelines.
